With just a point and a click, golf fans can now tune into the innovative Live Shot Tracking application, brought to you by the PGA Tour - and designed and built by Schematic and Turner Sports Interactive.
The Beta version of this application, which was launched to the general public during the 2008 AT&T Classic in Atlanta, is a groundbreaking way to follow golf on the Web. The application consumes live data generated in real time on the course by IBM’s ShotLink system, thanks to the efforts of volunteers roaming the fairways and greens with handheld GPS systems–and lasers. This data is then interpreted and rendered in a number of cool ways, giving golf fans the immersive experience they crave.
With initial reviews coming in extremely positive, look for future enhancements and sponsorship opprtunities on this amazing new
platform.
